ECHO'S CHAMBER

Tunnel-book inspired structure with sound. 8 x 8 x 8 feet. 2010

A stage, a book, or a cave. The story of Echo, as told by Echo (is it an interior monologue?), or by someone who has taken pity on Echo's inability to express herself and does the talking for her - at the nymph's expense. A text about frustration, unrequited love, original creative acts and mimicry.

The structure invites the viewer-reader to walk through the book and become a part of the text.

S – The Oreads were tomboyish nymphs.

E – ... tomboyish?

S – Yes, it's a word … That twisted trunk, this mass of igneous rock, that viny cascade, the spider scampering underfoot: all experts at camouflage and metamorphic deception …

E – ... and deception?

S – You had such a sweet face, no one suspected you could be such a cheat.
